INNER STRENGTH MARTIAL ARTS HISTORY

  • Sept. 11, 1993 - The Way of Martial Arts offers adult classes at Carpenter Park. Ms. Bales earned her Tae Kwon Do 1st degree Black Belt on Oct. 6th, 1996.
  • Sept. 11, 1995 - The Way of Martial Arts offers youth classes once a week at Carpenter Park. ISMA assistant instructors, Mr. Konrad Posch and Mr. Aaditya Nagaraj, both started in these classes.
  • The Way of Martial Arts no longer operates and is only included briefly in this history because of the above named people’s involvement. There are no other comparisons or affiliations between The Way of Martial Arts and Inner Strength Martial Arts. The Way of Martial Arts dissolved at Carpenter Park before Inner Strength Martial Arts started.

  • Aug. 27, 1997 - Inner Strength Martial Arts offers youth and adult classes at Carpenter Park in the evenings on a part-time basis. Adult classes meet twice a week while the youth classes only met once a week.
  • Mar. 26, 1998 - First ISMA family pizza and movie night. Mr. Gatti’s.
  • Sept. 2, 1998 - ISMA evolves to a dual system of Americanized Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do and Shui Huo Kung Fu.
  • Sept. 13, 2000 - ISMA divides adult class into Level I and Level II.
  • Jan. 24, 2001 - ISMA adds second training day for youth students at Carpenter Park.
  • Apr. 2001 - ISMA expands to a full-time operation adding weekly preschool classes and a bi-weekly Home Schooled youth class at Carpenter Park in the daytime. ISMA was the first organization at Carpenter Park to design a class specifically for home schooled students.
  • Apr. 2001 - ISMA teams with the Martial Arts Center of Plano to offer Shui Huo Kung Fu classes through the Allen Independent School District after school "Kid’s Club" program at Bolin Elementary.
  • May 2001 - ISMA expands to Joe Farmer location with a preschool and youth class, both meeting twice a week.
  • June 2001 - MACP / ISMA add Shui Huo Kung Fu classes at AISD’s Rountree and Green Elementary Schools. All remaining 7 AISD elementary schools were included in the program August 2001.
  • Sept. 2001 - ISMA adds evening kindergarten class at Carpenter Park. With the constant growing number of younger students training in ISMA, the yellow stripe rank belt for youth students was introduced.
  • Oct. 14, 2001 - First ISMA family picnic. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve.
  • Mar. 2002 - ISMA expands at Joe Farmer with an Adult class. In addition, two of the preschool classes are combined to offer a bi-weekly class for better retention from the serious younger student.
  • Apr. 28, 2002 - First ISMA Parent Training Day.
  • Aug. 2002 - ISMA dissolves it’s affiliation with AISD’s Kid’s Club Shui Huo Kung Fu program due to ISMA’s own future growth.
  • Sept. 2002 - ISMA adds second youth class at Carpenter Park location as well as an evening kindergarten and second youth class at Joe Farmer.
  • May, 2003 - First ISMA Friday Nite Sundae Party.
  • Aug., 2004 - First ISMA Tiger Challenge Tournament.
  • Jan. 2006 - ISMA adds an Intro to Martial Arts class at the Carpenter Park location to educate the public on martial arts.
  • Jan. 2009 - ISMA's re-structuring is complete. Officially announcing the evolution of ISMA - the style - with new curriculum and rank structure.
  • Aug. 2011 - ISMA offers an after-school enrichment program for the students at Tzu Chi Academy of Dallas Chinese school in Richardson.
